Glander International Bunkering announces senior management promotions in Dubai

UAE firm names new MD, Sales Manager and Business Development Manager.

Glander International Bunkering (GIB) has announced three internal promotions at its office in Dubai.

Former Sales Manager Morten Langthjem has been named Managing Director, whilst former Team Leader & Senior Bunker/Lubricant Trader Alex Margaritis will fill the Sales Manager role vacated by Langthjem.

Hernan Ortiz, meanwhile, has been appointed Business Development Manager - a newly created role at the UAE office.

Commenting on the promotions, Carsten Ladekjaer, Group CEO, remarked: "All three of the newly appointed candidates have played a critical role in guiding Glander International Bunkering DMCC through pivotal points in the office's history. As the group continues to expand its relationships regionally and internationally, we require the correct leadership and expertise in place to help us navigate and continue to thrive in an ever-changing marketplace."

Langthjem has 25 years' experience in the shipping and bunkering industry. He joined GIB as Sales Manager in 2014, having previously served as Trading Manager at Peninsula Petroleum in Gibraltar. Before that, he was employed as trader at Danish firm O.W. Bunker, where he also spent two years at the company's subsidiary in Pireaus, Greece.

Margaritis has been with GIB for almost seven years. Prior to that, he was Trading Manager in Singapore for Praxis Energy Agents - a company he joined in 2007.

"His progression through the group to Sales Manager is the next challenge in his career," GIB said.

Ortiz, meanwhile, is said to have had "an outstandingly successful eight years trading for the company". He has more than 27 years' experience in the shipping industry and a portfolio of varying roles that include shipowner, agent, physical supplier, trader, and broker.

"Due to the specialised requirements of the group's current and future clients, the prerequisite for a Business Development Manager with extensive expertise such as Hernan's has been the natural direction," GIB explained.
