RN-Bunker starts selling new low-sulphur marine fuel

First consignment is said to have been shipped to Kavkaz, Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad.

Rosneft marine fuel subsidiary RN-Bunker has begun selling a new low-sulphur marine fuel with a maximum sulphur content of 0.1 percent, IAA PortNews reports.

The low-viscosity fuel is said to have been produced by the Ufa refinery group, with the first consignments shipped to the ports of Kavkaz, Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad for sale in the marine bunker market.

Rosneft has also been producing a DMF I fuel with sulphur levels as low as 0.1 percent at its refineries in Ryazan and Komsomolsk.

Rosneft's bunkering business is carried out by both RN-Bunker and Rosneft Marine UK Ltd. Via these businesses, Rosneft performs bunker deliveries in key ports across Russia and is able to arrange supplies outside Russia also.

According to Rosneft, its bunker sales in Russia amounted to 2.991 million tonnes in 2015, with a market share of around 20 percent.

Last year, RN-Bunker is said to have sold 200,000 metric tonnes of low-sulphur marine fuel.

In addition to its headquarters in Moscow, RN-Bunker also has offices in Nakhodka, Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Saint-Petersburg, Novorossiysk, Tuapse and Samara.
