Peninsula is recruiting a junior cargo trader to be based in Dubai, according to a job posting published on LinkedIn.

The role sits within Peninsula's Supply & Trading department and centres on the procurement of marine fuels, blending components and associated products to maintain supply into the company's regional physical ports. According to the posting, the position also involves maximising the value of Peninsula's assets and managing counterparty relationships with oil companies, refiners and trading houses globally.

The company states that the role would suit a candidate with prior experience in physical trading, particularly within residual and distillate fuels.

Among the responsibilities listed, the successful candidate would be expected to procure marine fuels and blending components, coordinate with internal operations teams on supply and blending, and work alongside Peninsula's chartering function to manage its shipping assets. The position also involves liaising with the regional book manager and hedging desk to manage pricing risk within the company's risk management framework.

Candidates are expected to possess knowledge of residual and distillate fuel pools, feedstocks and blending parameters, as well as familiarity with ISO 8217 specifications. Commercial acumen, negotiation ability and analytical thinking are listed as requirements, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office and customer relationship management systems.

Peninsula also notes that the trader would be expected to use vessel tracking alongside local market intelligence to monitor competitors' and suppliers' flows, and to vet counterparties in coordination with the supplier credit team.

Knowledge of languages in addition to English is listed as desirable but not required.
