Turkey's largest liquid terminal sold

Facility, which also stores bunker fuel, has been acquired by Yilport Holdings.

Turkey's largest liquid storage terminal, the Solventas Terminal, has been acquired by Yilport Holdings, a subsidiary of Yildrim Group.

Following the acquisition, Solventas will now be integrated into Yilport Gebze's liquid terminal to form 'Yilport Dilovasi Liquid Terminal'. This new complex will offer the most advanced storing and handling capabilities in Turkey.

Located in Kocaeli's Dilovasi District, Solventas - established in 1967 as a type A Customs Bonded Warehouse for the storage of bulk liquids - has 217 chemical tanks with a storage capacity of 333,000 cubic metres. The liquid terminal serves tankers and vessels on two jetties of 273 and 235 metres in length. In addition to bunker fuels, the facility stores over 70 types of products including chemicals, acids, base oils, mineral oils, vegetable oils, and food products.

Yilport Gebze liquid terminal currently houses 85 chemical tanks with 120,000 cubic metres of storage capacity.

Following the consolidation, the new Yilport Dilovasi Liquid Terminal will serve the industry with more than 300 tanks and over 450,000 cubic metres of liquid storage.

Thanks to its strategic position at Izmit Bay on the main shipping routes of the Marmara Sea, the combined facility will offer expedient exit for all kinds of transit trade with Russia, Central Asian Republics, the Middle East and the Balkans.

With this new acquisition, Yilport Holding continues its growth towards its stated goal to be ranked among top 10 international port operators by 2025. In addition, the merger will contribute to growth of the chemical industry - a vital segment in Turkey's 2023 vision. The terminal is also significant as the first specialised port of Yilport Holdings exclusively dedicated to handling and storing chemicals and liquid cargo.

The signing ceremony took place in Istanbul on 14th June 2016. The handover is expected to commence following the Turkish Competition Authority's approval.
