Bunker price volatility rose from February's record low during the month of March, according to Bunker Index price data.

In a comparison of low-to-high differentials for the daily Bunker Index (BIX) global average, March recorded a differential of $19.67 per tonne, up from $8.08 per tonne in February (the lowest figure since Bunker Index began recording global bunker volatility data in April 2009).

Last month's figure is the second-lowest since September. It is also the first time since June 2015 that sub-$20 levels have been recorded in two consecutive mohths.

The lowest daily worldwide bunker average last month was $339.20 per tonne, recorded on March 1, whilst the highest price was $358.87 per tonne on March 23.
