Rotterdam Market Report

Market report from Marine Bunkering (Rotterdam) B.V.

Crude:

World fuel indices finally declined in the end of the first trading session in 2016: global glut outweighs Middle East tensions.

In the beginning of the session tension between regional rivals Saudi Arabia and Iran supported the indexes. Saudi Arabia cut ties with Iran after protesters in the Shiite-majority country stormed the Saudi embassy. However in the end the session apprehensions for global glut overbalanced Middle East tensions and pushed indexes down.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries abandoned output limits. Saudi Arabia produced 10.25 million barrels of oil a day in December and Iran pumped 2.7 million barrels a day seeking to boost exports once international sanctions are lifted.
