SIBCON event details are released


MPA reveals list of key speakers and conference agenda for leading bunker event.



The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has released details regarding this year's Singapore International Bunkering Conference (SIBCON) during Singapore Maritime Week - the leading annual maritime event in Singapore.

The third Singapore Maritime Week will be held from 10 to 17 October 2008. Main events include the 2nd Singapore Maritime Lecture to be delivered by International Maritime Organisation Secretary-General E E Mitropoulos and the SIBCON conference 2008, which expects to attract more than 800 participants from around the world.

Confirmed speakers at the SIBCON conference include Loh Wai Kiew, CEO/Vice President of Shell Marine Products; Michael Bandy, Chairman and CEO of Chemoil; Paul H. Stebbins, Chairman & CEO of World Fuel Services; Kenichi Kuroya, Managing Director of K-Line and Captain Saad Tayyab, Deputy President of Titan Ocean Pte. Ltd.

The conference agenda includes a session covering the latest developments on the marine fuel sulphur limit and the MARPOL Annex VI sulphur issue. A shipping leaders roundtable will discuss the topic of sustainable shipping together with Asian growth, demand and its impact on shipping.

On the second day, a marine fuels CEO roundtable will take place where business trends and an outlook for the next two years will be the main topics to be covered. A session will also de dedicated to the Singapore market where local initiatives, legislation and the transport infrastructure will be addressed.

The final day of the conference will offer delegates the oppportunity to attend an oil spill exercise. The exercise is expected to start at 8.00 am and end by 1.00pm.
