Bunker vessel to provide 'fully dedicated' service at Coveñas

The BT Cartagena Sun will be providing a regular bunker supply service in the port and offshore.

Bunkers International Corp., along with its joint venture partner C.I. Vanoil has announced that the BT Cartagena Sun [pictured] is now "fully dedicated" to providing bunker supply services at the port of Coveñas, Colombia.

"We are very excited that the BT Cartagena Sun will operate in Coveñas, which is Colombia's main crude oil port. Having the vessel available at Coveñas will be of great service to our customers. Currently the ships calling the port have had little or no option for marine fuel and we are confident that our high quality, lower sulphur fuels will be of interest to our customers there," said John Canal, President of Bunkers International Corp. “We now have the ability to service the large crude oil tankers that call Coveñas, as well as vessels calling for bunkers only.”

The BT Cartagena Sun is a ColombianR08;flagged 2012 rebuilt doubleR08;hulled tanker. The vessel has the capacity to carry 5,500 metric tonnes of bunker fuel, including RMG 500 centistoke (cSt), RMG 380 cSt, and low sulphur 380 cSt.

The BT Cartagena Sun is fully operational and has been making deliveries regionally from its home base in Cartagena. The vessel is a purposeR08;built bunker tanker, equipped with a variableR08;pitch propeller, Yokohama fenders, and pump rates of up to 600 metric tonnes per hour.

Bunkers International says its low sulphur fuel oil (LSFO) contains a maximum of 1.00% sulphur with a viscosity of 250R08;300 cSt, less than 200 parts per million (ppm) of vanadium and a calculated carbon aromaticity index (CCAI) of typically 820R08;830 ppm.

The company's high sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) typically contains a maximum of 1.5% sulphur and vanadium below 200 ppm.
