The 380 centistoke (cst) average at Europe's leading bunker port plummeted $16 per tonne, or 2.74 percent, to $567 per tonne in January, down from $583 per tonne the previous month, according to Bunker Index price data. It is the lowest 380 cst average since June 2012.

The price decrease is the fourth in the last five months and the most significant since April 2013, when the 380 cst average dropped $19 to $584 per tonne having fallen $28 to $603 per tonne the month before.

In a comparison with the corresponding month in 2013, the January 2014 average is $43 lower. It is $102 lower than the $669 per tonne recorded in January 2012.
