China's first dual-fuel fishery administration vessel

Vessel retrofitted to run on both liquefied natural gas and marine gasoil.

China has begun carrying out trials of the country's first dual-fuel fishery administration vessel, according to industry sources.

The ship, named China Fishery Administration Ship 12018, is equipped with six 375-litre liquefied natural gas (LNG) cylinders and is able to run on both LNG and marine gasoil (MGO).

The vessel was retrofitted by Tianjin-based Huanjie Automobile Energy Co. and has a cruising radius of 300 nautical miles.

In addition to China Fishery Administration Ship 12018, some 30 fishing boats in Tianjin have also been recently retrofitted to burn LNG.

Previously, Urumqi-based Xinjiang Guanghui Industry Investment Group Co. Ltd. retrofitted a fishery administration ship to run on LNG alone.
