NWE average climbs $16.82 per tonne


BIX NWE increases by 2.6 percent as bunker prices surge across North West Europe.



The Bunker Index NWE (BIX NWE) - Bunker Index's average bunker price for ports in North West Europe - increased by $16.82, or 2.6 percent, to $671.02 today as bunker prices surged in the region following yesterday's $2.14 per barrel rise in the price of Brent crude and the $21.25 increase in the price of ICE gas oil.

The Bunker Index NWE 380 CST (BIX NWE 380 CST) - the average price for 380-centistoke in North West Europe - jumped by $18.30, or 3.3 percent, to $567.38 per tonne and the BIX NWE 180 CST - the average 180-cst price in the region - rose by $18.91, or 3.3 percent, to $586.58 per tonne.

IFO 380 and IFO 180 prices in North West Europe were $19-$27 per tonne higher in Bremerhaven, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Great Belt, Hamburg, Riga and Tallinn..

The Bunker Index NWE MDO (BIX NWE MDO) rose by $14.00, or 1.7 percent, to $821.86 per tonne and the Bunker Index NWE MGO (BIX NWE MGO) increased by $14.65, or 1.7 percent, to $886.79 per tonne.

Marine gas oil (MGO) prices were $20-23 per tonne higher in Bergen, Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Great Belt.
