Med MGO prices up $53.50 in a week


Med MGO prices continue to rise as the BIX MED MGO jumps a further $10.30 per tonne.



The Bunker Index Med MGO (BIX MED MGO) - Bunker Index's average price for marine gas oil (MGO) in the Mediterranean - rose by $10.30 per tonne today as prices increased across the region for all fuel grades.

MGO prices recorded the most significant price jumps today with distillate levels rising by $10-$15 per tonne in Algeciras, Augusta, Fos, Genoa, Gibraltar, Limassol, Off Malta and Piraeus.

The Bunker Index Med (BIX MED) - Bunker Index's average bunker price for ports in the Mediterranean - increased by $7.53 to $586.91 per tonne.

Prices in the region have risen on average by $41.10 per tonne, or 7.5 percent, in only a week since Tuesday 28th September when the BIX MED was at $545.81 per tonne.

During the same period MGO prices have skyrocketed $53.60, or 7.6 percent, from $703.50 per tonne to $757.10 per tonne.

Meanwhile, the Bunker Index Med 380 CST (BIX MED 380 CST) - the average price for 380-cst in the region - rose by $7.45 today to $482.89 per tonne from $475.44 per tonne on Monday. The Bunker Index Med 180 CST (BIX MED 180 CST) was $6.13 higher at $509.88 per tonne.

In a comparison with a week ago, BIX MED 380 CST prices have risen by $36.22 per tonne, or 8.1 percent, whilst BIX MED 180 CST levels are $35.53 per tonne, or 7.5 percent, higher.
