BIX average up 3.8% in October

Data analysis shows that October price rise was less than in August, May and April.

In order to facilitate the analysis of Bunker Index (BIX) data and current global bunker price trends, we have provided below a table of monthly BIX averages.

You will see from the table that the greatest price change since April was recorded during the month of June when the BIX rose on average by $65.07 per tonne, or 15.5 percent.

However, despite the fact that October saw one of the largest intra-month increases (as shown in our article entitled 'Bunker Index(BIX): 9.6% intra-month rise in October'), bunker prices were on average only up by 3.8 percent compared to the previous month.

In addition to June, more significant average monthly price rises were seen in August (+$40.41, +8.4 percent) and May (+37.73, +9.9 percent).
