Vitol Bunkers has commenced high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) supply operations in Pakistan, marking the first availability of the fuel grade in the country since 2020.
The company announced the launch on 10 February, adding HSFO to its existing very-low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) and low-sulphur marine gas oil (LSMGO) offerings at three Pakistani locations: Karachi Anchorage, Karachi Port and Port Qasim.
According to Vitol Bunkers, the addition expands the range of marine fuel options available locally. The company had previously launched VLSFO and LSMGO supply services in Pakistan.
Vitol Bunkers operates the barge Marine Ista in Pakistani waters, a 2007-built vessel with a deadweight tonnage of 8,670 tonnes at summer draft. The barge has a length overall of 103 metres and is equipped with two 1,000 cbm/hour cargo pumps plus one 350 cbm/hour electric pump. The vessel can carry 6,800 tonnes of segregated products, including LSMGO and VLSFO.
