Norwegian shipbuilder VARD has delivered Windward Hamburg to Windward Offshore from its Vard Vung Tau facility in Vietnam, completing a series of four commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs) built for the offshore wind operator.
The delivery brings together the full quartet of vessels — Windward Athens, Windward Paris, Windward Munich and Windward Hamburg — all of which are now part of the Windward Offshore fleet. The four vessels are based on VARD's VARD 4 19 design and were built, according to VARD, to support offshore wind projects.
Windward Hamburg measures 87.5 metres in length and 19.5 metres in beam, with accommodation for up to 120 persons. VARD states that the vessel has been prepared for future operation on green methanol and equipped with a motion-compensated gangway featuring an integrated elevator, an electric motion-compensated crane, a height-adjustable boat-landing system and battery-hybrid propulsion.
VARD is part of the Fincantieri Group, Italy’s largest shipbuilding group.
