Singapore bunker sales dip below 50m tonnes in 2018


12-month volume 1.7% down on previous year as December sees best monthly figure since January.

The world's biggest port by bunker supply volume, Singapore, finished the year with sales of 4.308m tonnes in December - its best monthly figure since January.

The result meant that overall volume for 2018 dipped year-on-year (YoY) by 838,600 tonnes, or 1.7 percent, to 49.798m tonnes, down from 50.636m tonnes in 2017.

Sales of Singapore's best-selling fuel grade, 380 centistoke (cSt), dropped YoY by 2.091m tonnes, or 5.5 percent, to 35.723m tonnes in 2018, whilst 500 cSt volume went in the opposite direction - rising 566,200 tonnes, or 5.6 percent, to 10.619m tonnes.

In terms of IMO 2020-compliant distillate products, low-sulphur marine gas oil (LS MGO) recorded a YoY improvement of 253,900 tonnes, or 19.8 percent, to 1.539m tonnes in 2018.

MGO sales, meanwhile, were up marginally by 10,700 tonnes, or 1.5 percent, to 746,900 tonnes.
