Vilma Oil Med has expanded its bunkering operations at the Port of Ceuta, increasing storage capacity and enabling biofuel supply at the strategically located Strait of Gibraltar port.

The Spanish bunkering company, which forms part of TFG Marine, has increased its total storage capacity at Ceuta to around 120,000 cbm. The expansion also includes enhanced ex-pipe delivery capability and a wider range of conventional marine fuels, including high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO), very-low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) and marine gas oil (MGO).

As part of the development, Vilma Oil Med has added an IMO II chemical tanker to its delivery fleet. The vessel is capable of supplying biofuels, including blends up to B100, enabling the company to support customers seeking lower-emission fuel options alongside conventional grades.

The company said all bunker deliveries at Ceuta continue to be carried out using fully calibrated Mass Flow Meter systems certified to ISO 22192, maintaining consistent measurement accuracy and transparency.

Ernesto Fernandez-Maquieira, director at Vilma Oil Med, noted: "We are pleased to grow our offering in the region and remain committed to continued investment in Ceuta, recognising its strategic importance in the Strait of Gibraltar and working closely with our partners to support its development as a competitive and innovative bunkering destination."

Ceuta sits at the western entrance to the Mediterranean. It serves vessels transiting between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, making it one of the most active bunkering locations in the region.

TFG Marine was established in 2020 as a joint venture between Trafigura, Frontline and Golden Ocean Group and supplies marine fuels to vessels across multiple global bunkering locations.
