End-of-week prices

Bunker Index (BIX) prices rose for the fourth consecutive week prices in week 50, according to Bunker Index price data.

The daily Bunker Index (BIX) ended week 50 at $463.52 per tonne - up $9.10, or 2.00 percent, on the $454.42-per-tonne price recorded on 9th December. It is the highest end-of-week price in more than 16 months - since 31st July 2015.

During the same period, the daily Brent front-month settlement price was up $0.88 per barrel, or 1.62 percent, to $55.21 per barrel.

Weekly averages

The global BIX weekly average rose for the fourth successive week to its highest level since 7th August 2015 during the trading week ending 16th December.

In week 50, the bunker average increased by $11.09, or 2.46 percent, to $462.43 per tonne, up from $451.34 per tonne seven days earlier.

During the same period, the Brent crude front-month settlement weekly average was up $0.89 per barrel, or 1.65 percent, to $54.91 per barrel. It is the highest weekly average since 24th July 2015.

The Bunker Index (BIX) is the daily global average price in US dollars per tonne for all the 700-plus assessment prices published on the bunkerindex.com site, covering over 300 ports and the major fuel grades.
