Bunker Index (BIX) price summary: week 49


A summary of global bunker prices in week 49.



The end-of-week Bunker Index (BIX) - the daily average worldwide bunker price quoted in US$ per metric tonne - fell for the fourth consecutive week on December 4th, according to Bunker Index price data.

The global price was down $10.65, or 2.6 percent, to $397.53 per tonne on December 4th compared with $408.18 per tonne on November 27th.

The $397.53 figure is the lowest end-of-week price of the year so far. Last week also recorded the lowest daily worldwide average of 2015 on Thursday, December 3rd with a figure of $396.91 per tonne.

As well as being the fourth successive price drop, it is also the seventh decline in eight weeks.
