The average global bunker price increased at a lower rate than Brent crude for the third consecutive month in September, according to Bunker Index (BIX) price data.

The Brent settlement average increased by $0.87 per barrel, or 0.79 percent, to $111.25 per barrel in the month of September. During the same period, the BIX global bunker average rose by $2.96 per tonne, or 0.37 percent, to $799.25 per tonne.

Since September 2012, the Brent monthly average has fallen $1.78 per barrel, or 1.6 percent, from $113.03 to $111.25 per barrel, whilst the BIX monthly global average has decreased by $53.83 per tonne, or 6.3 percent, from $853.08 to $799.25 per tonne.
