Singapore: Bunker sales up 10.7% in December


December's volume figure is the highest since July.



Bunker sales in Singapore rose to their highest level since July during the month of December, according to data released by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Total sales at the world's leading bunker port increased last month by 350,100 tonnes, or 10.7 percent, to 3,625,700 tonnes, up from 3,275,600 tonnes in November.

December's volume figure is the highest since July, when sales climbed 8,300 tonnes to 3,655,200 tonnes. In comparison with the corresponding month last year, December volumes were down 178,400 tonnes, or 4.7 percent.

Sales of 380-centistoke (cst) - Singapore's largest-selling bunker grade - increased by 351,700 tonnes, or 14.1 percent, to 2,843,600 tonnes. It is the highest figure since reaching 2,924,400 tonnes in July. In comparison with the corresponding month last year, sales were down 178.400 tonnes, or 4.7 percent.

Meanwhile, 500-cst volumes declined by 25,300 tonnes, or 4.5 percent, to 541,400 tonnes. The result was 109,600 tonnes, or 25.4 percent, higher than the 431,800 tonnes sold in December 2011.
