KC LNG unveils 'game-changer' Y-piece that slashes bunker delivery times

Attachment makes it possible to refuel a ship with LNG at double the speed of normal truck-to-ship bunkering.

KC LNG's new Y-piece attachment is described as being 'lightweight' and is designed to fit any type of tank trailer. Also, bunkering never has to stop during delivery as the shut-off valves and purging system make it possible to disconnect and change trailers during the filling operation.

KC LNG, the LNG division of Kosan Crisplant, has announced the launch of its new Y-piece for LNG bunkering - an attachment that allows the simultaneous delivery of LNG fuel via two tank trailers.

The addition of the Y-piece makes it possible to refuel a ship with LNG at twice the rate of normal truck-to-ship bunkering, thus slashing delivery times.

It is designed to work as an adapter that splits a ship's fuel connection into two, enabling the transfer of fuel from double the number of tank trailers. But it is not only limited to two trailers: by adding a second Y-piece, the potential number of trucks involved in the delivery process increases to four, thus cutting the bunkering time down to 25 percent.

Lightweight, adaptable and efficient

KC LNG also notes that the Y-piece is a "lightweight" and "highly mobile" solution.

"It weighs so little that it can be hand-lifted by just two crew members and transported on a standard trailer without the need for special machinery," KC LNG explains.

Also, in order to make it as easy and widely applicable as possible, the Y-piece is designed to fit any type of tank trailer.

Furthermore, its shut-off valves and purging system make it possible to disconnect and change trailers during the filling operation, so bunkering never has to stop during the delivery process.

Dutch firm Nijman/Zeetank International Logistic Group has already started using the Y-piece, which it describes as a "game-changer".

"It has drastically increased the efficiency of our LNG bunkering process, and it was very easy to install and use. We have already performed several bunker operations and are quickly accustomed to work easily and safely with the new equipment. The professional assistance from KC LNG has only made the experience better," the company said.
