Brent vs BIX price comparison


Analysis of Brent crude vs the BIX global bunker price.



The average global bunker price decreased at a slightly higher rate than Brent crude in December 2012, according to Bunker Index price data.

The Brent settlement average fell by just $0.19 per barrel, or 0.17 percent, to $109.20 per barrel in the month of December. During the same period, the BIX global bunker average declined by $6.05 per tonne, or 0.7 percent, to $804.04 per tonne.

It is the third month in succession that the average bunker price has decreased at a higher rate than Brent crude.

Between December 2011 and December 2012, the Brent monthly average rose by $1.48 per barrel, or 1.37 percent, from $107.72 to $109.20 per barrel, whilst the BIX monthly global average declined by $14.14 per tonne, or 1.73 percent, from $818.18 to $804.04 per tonne.
