BIX global bunker average down $19 in October


Global average falls for the first time since June.



The average monthly Bunker Index (BIX) price fell by $19.14 per tonne, or 2.2 percent, in October compared to the previous month, according to Bunker Index price data.

The BIX global monthly average decreased to $833.94 per tonne last month, down from $853.08 per tonne in September. It is the first monthly decline since June, when the BIX fell $70.59 to $774.95 per tonne, and the fourth lowest price of the year so far.

In a comparison with previous years, October 2012 was $19.33 per tonne higher than the $814.61 average price recorded in October 2011 and $233.79 per tonne higher than the $600.15 per tonne figure seen in October 2010.
