Bunker price volatility rose to its second-highest level in 15 months in August, according to Bunker Index price data.

In a comparison of low-high differentials for the daily BIX global average, August 2012 proved to be the most volatile of the last 3 months with a low-high differential of $51.96 per tonne.

The lowest daily global bunker price last month was $800.77 per tonne on August 2, whilst the highest price was $852.73 per tonne on August 23.

August's low-high differential was also the second-highest since May 2011 and the second-highest of the year so far.
