Contract to build dual fuel OSVs

New vessels to be powered by Wärtsilä dual fuel solution.

New Orleans-headquartered Harvey Gulf International Marine has signed a contract with STX Marine to build two STX Marine SV310DF dual fuel Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs) in the Gulf of Mexico, to be constructed by Trinity Offshore.

The new order brings the total number of liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered vessels on order from Harvey Gulf to four. As with the first two vessels, the ships will be powered by a dual fuel solution provided by Wärtsilä.

According to STX Marine, the four OSVs will be the first US-flagged dual fuel vessels that will have the American Bureau of Shipping’s ENVIRO+ certification.

The vessels will be constructed with certified environmentally friendly material and built to meet the highest emissions standards.

STX Marine Inc., with offices located in Vancouver and Houston, is a consulting naval architecture and marine engineering company established in 1983 and a leading designer of OSVs for the North American and international markets.

Founded in 1955, Harvey Gulf International Marine is a marine transportation company that specializes in towing drilling rigs and providing offshore supply and multi-purpose support vessels for deepwater operations in the US Gulf.
