Cockett gets green light to supply in northern France

Cockett Marine Oil gets the go-ahead to carry out deliveries of marine fuel at five ports in northern France.

Cockett Marine Oil has announced that full approval has been granted by the customs authorities in France for the company to supply marine fuel products at the port of Le Havre.

Cockett confirmed that it has full port approval to also supply fuel at port berths and jetties in the following locations:

Antifer

Boulogne Sur Mer

Cherbourg

Dunkerque

The news follows the launch of Cockett's physical bunker supply service in the Thames Estuary in 2010. The company provides regulated fuelling for vessels from several agreed locations in the Thames estuary. The anchorages sit in deep and unobstructed waters, well sheltered from the prevailing weather by the south eastern hook of the Kent coast and offer a short deviation from the shipping lanes of the English Channel, one of the busiest shipping routes in the world.

The new bunkering operation in northern France will complement Cockett's activities in the Thames Estuary and the operations of its sister company, Associated Bunkeroil Contractors B.V. (ABC Bunkeroils), in the ARA region. In May 2010, the company's owner, Grindrod Ltd., announced the acquisition of ABC Bunkeroils, a physical supplier in the ARA region carrying out deliveries in the ports of Rotterdam, Europport, Antwerp and Amsterdam and in the secondary ports of IJmuiden, Velzen, Den Helder, Dordrecht, Flushing, Terneuzen, Ghent and Zeebrugge.

South African holding company Grindrod first acquired a 50 percent share in Cocket Marine Oil in July 2005. Cockettt currently supplies in the region of 5 million tonnes of marine fuel and lubricants per annum and has an annual turnover of approximately US$1 billion.
