OW Bunker expands network to India

New operation established in India as company further extends its focus on BRIC countries.

OW Bunker, one of the world’s leading suppliers and traders of marine fuel, has today announced the opening of its new support operation in Mumbai, India.

Commenting on the launch of the operation, OW Bunker said: "This will enable OW Bunker to further strengthen the group’s presence in the strategically important and fast-growing BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) countries." In March 2011, the company also expanded its operations into Brazil.

In this latest move by OW Bunker, the group aims to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the growth of India as a global economic trade power, as well as its importance as a significant bunkering location, including a burgeoning offshore market.

"OW Bunker’s robust network on the ground will ensure that it can meet customers’ demands for supplying high quality fuel oil in all product grades, including MGO, when and where they need them in every Indian port," OW Bunker said.

Captain Tanoj Kumar Ghosh, who heads up OW Bunker’s sub-continent market including India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh commented: “We have an expert understanding of the local market, as well as real offshore experience, and supply chain agreements with all leading fuel suppliers in every port from Kandla and Haldia to Colombo and Chittagong. This allows us to provide high quality, ISO / BIS specification fuel products of all grades, including straight run from various local refineries. We can also ensure delivery whenever and wherever our customers need us, whether offshore or in port. And with the strength of our global network, we have the capabilities to provide the best prices, as well as long term contracts.”

Captain Ghosh continued: “Our focus is to provide the very best service possible for our customers, which includes fast delivery, as well as supervising the entire bunkering process from the initial order until their vessels disembark to ensure quality, quantity and efficiency standards are maintained.”

Also commenting on the news, Götz Lehsten, Vice President, OW Bunker, said: “India and the sub continent is a market of real growth and dynamism and it is important to our international customers that we can meet their bunker needs in the region and the wider sub-continent, with a guarantee of high quality products and a fast, safe and efficient bunkering service every time. We will continue to look to expand our operations within these growth markets in a controlled way that ensures further progression and stable growth.”
