Klaipeda terminal secures fuel oil shipment contract

Terminal operator signs long-term fuel oil contract with Russian firm.

Lithuania's state-owned oil terminal operator AB Klaipedos Nafta has signed a long-term contract with Gazprom Neft Trading GmbH to ship fuel oil through its terminal in the port of Klaipeda, located on the Baltic Sea.

Gazprom’s shipments through the SC Klaipedos Nafta terminal will account for 10 to 15 percent of the facility’s total capacity. Up until now, Gazprom Neft Trading - the oil arm of Russia's gas giant Gazprom- had only been supplying occasional shipments of fuel oil via the Klaipeda terminal.

The facility, which mostly ships exports of oil products from Russian, Lithuanian, and Belarusian refiners, is reported to handle between 7.1 and 7.7 million tonnes crude oil and petroleum products per year.
