MOL ups BAF on US and South African trades


Shipper to increase surcharge on trades to the United States and South Africa via Europe from next month.



Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) has announced that it will be increasing its Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) on trades to the United States and South Africa via Europe from next month.

The Japanese shipper said that, starting from June 15th 2010, the surcharge for cargo shipments to the United States and South Africa via Europe will be US$602 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) for US Atlantic and Gulf ports, and $773 per TEU for US West Coast ports.

Meanwhile, the surcharge per forty-foot equivalent unit (FEU) to the United States and South Africa via Europe will be $1,204 for US Atlantic and Gulf ports, and $1,546 per FEU for US West Coast ports.
