The Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) has announced that Dr Prapisala Thepsithar, its Director of Projects and Lead of its Biofuels initiative, has received the 2025 Enterprise Singapore–SSC/SAC Commendation Award.

The award recognises her contributions to Singapore’s Standardisation and Accreditation Programme.

Dr Thepsithar contributed technical expertise and shared findings from GCMD’s biofuels supply chain trials through the marine biofuel standards working group, supporting development of TR 140:2025 - Specification for marine biofuel.

GCMD expained that her work helped incorporate real-world trial data into the standardisation process, improving alignment on biofuel quality across the industry and strengthening confidence among end-users in marine biofuels.

The organisation noted that shaping standards is a central part of its work to advance decarbonisation, adding that its projects team is actively involved in several Standards Development Organisation-Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SDO@SCIC) committees and working groups, including the Technical Committee for Bunkering Standards (Cryogenic & Gaseous Fuels), the Technical Committee for Bunkering (Ambient Liquid Fuels), the Working Group for Marine Biofuels Standards, the Working Group for Ammonia Bunkering, and the National Mirror Committee for ISO Biofuels Standards.

The team also contributes to other groups, including the Maritime Engineering Technical Committee (IES) and a working group developing an ISO standard for ammonia bunkering.

Through these roles and by sharing lessons from pilot projects, GCMD says its team is helping to support the development of practical guidelines that can speed up adoption and strengthen the wider marine fuels ecosystem.
