Island Petroleum Ltd, a subsidiary of Island Oil (Holdings) Ltd, is extending its coverage in Ashdod (Israel) with the physical supply of marine fuel in-port and at anchorage.

The new locations are in addition to the delivery service already offered off port limits (OPL) at Ashdod, which the firm has been operating for a year.

Vessels calling for bunkers only or awaiting instructions have been able to refuel at Island Petroleum's Ashdod OPL location (31º47.7N 034º31.51E) since July 2019, with deliveries being carried out by the 6,352-deadweight-tonne (dwt) oil tanker Olivia.

And as of this week, the Olivia is now also able to perform deliveries at anchorage, supplying very-low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) with a maximum sulphur content of 0.5 percent and DMA-specification marine gas oil (MGO) with fuel sulphur levels of up to 0.1 percent.

Built in 2011, the Olivia is double hulled and equipped with a boiler, heating coils, flow meters, fenders, a bow thruster as well as a boom system, tow boat and skimmer.

The vessel has a storage capacity of 5,000 metric tonnes for VLSFO and 750 tonnes for MGO. Pumping rates are 500 cubic metres (cbm) per hour and 200 cbm per hour for VLSFO and MGO, respectively.

In-port supplies at Ashdod are set to commence on August 1 via the 2012-built oil tanker Lerrix, which is able to store up to 780 tonnes of VLSFO and 255 tonnes of MGO. Fuel delivery rates are 350 cbm per hour for VLSFO and 120 cbm per hour for MGO.

Other Israeli ports: Haifa and Ashkelon

In addition to Ashdod, Island Petroleum has, since December 2015, been providing a delivery service at the Israeli port of Haifa and outer roads that was largely focused on in-port supplies via the 1316-dwt Lerrix. This was later extended in October 2017 with the addition of the 2,434-dwt Thalia for anchorage deliveries to accommodate bunkers-only calls.

The company's physical supply service at Ashkelon anchorage was launched in 2019 at the same time as its Ashdod OPL operation.

Cyprus

In Cyprus, Island Petroleum is a physical supplier in Limassol (port and anchorage), Larnaca (port and anchorage), Vassiliko (port and anchorage), Moni (anchorage) and Dhekelia (anchorage).
