WTI vs BIX price comparison


Analysis of WTI crude vs the BIX global bunker price during the month of May.



The average monthly WTI crude price increased at a more significant rate than the average global bunker price during the month of May, according to Bunker Index (BIX) and New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) price data.

The WTI settlement average was up $5.76 per barrel, or 13.98 percent, to $46.95 per barrel in May. During the same period, the BIX global bunker average rose $30.14 per tonne, or 8.33 percent, to $392.04 per tonne.

Over the last 12 months - between May 2015 and May 2016 - the WTI monthly average has fallen $12.48 per barrel, or 21.00 percent, from $59.43 to $46.95 per barrel, whilst the BIX monthly global average has declined by $150.96 per tonne, or 27.8 percent, from $544.00 to $393.04 per tonne.
