Brent vs BIX price comparison


Analysis of Brent crude vs the BIX global bunker price in May.



The average monthly Brent crude price rose at a more significant rate than the global bunker price during the month of May, according to Bunker Index (BIX) and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) price data.

The Brent settlement average increased by $4.35 per barrel, or 10.0 percent, to $47.65 per barrel in May. During the same period, the BIX global bunker average was up $30.14 per tonne, or 8.3 percent, to $392.04 per tonne.

Since May 2015, the Brent monthly average has fallen $17.96 per barrel, or 27.4 percent, from $65.61 to $47.65 per barrel, whilst the BIX monthly global average has declined by $150.96 per tonne, or 27.8 percent, from $544.00 to $393.04 per tonne.
