Bunker Index (BIX) price summary: week 28


Lowest end-of-week figure since April 10 as global bunker prices fall by $17.61 per tonne between July 3 and July 10.



The Bunker Index (BIX) - the daily average worldwide bunker price quoted in US$ per metric tonne - recorded its biggest weekly decline of the year so far during the 7-day period between July 3 and July 10, according to Bunker Index price data.

The global price fell by $17.61, or 3.4 percent, to $505.51 per tonne on July 10 compared to $523.12 per tonne on July 3. In dollar terms, it is the most significant decrease of 2015; but in percentage terms, it is not as low as the 3.5 percent fall seen in week 3.

It is the fourth end-of-week decline in a row and the seventh in the last eight weeks.

Friday's price is also the lowest end-of-week figure in 13 weeks - since April 10.
