The Bunker Index (BIX) global monthly average recorded its most significant decline since January during the month of June, according to Bunker Index price data.

The worldwide bunker average fell by $8.48, or 1.56 percent, to $535.52 per tonne last month, down from $544.00 per tonne in May.

Despite the decline, last month's average is the second-highest of the year so far, and the price decrease is the ninth in the last 12 months.

In comparison with previous years, the June 2015 average is $258.29 lower than the $793.81 price recorded in June 2014, and $251.04 below the $786.56 figure seen in June 2013.
