The 380 centistoke (cSt) average at Europe's leading bunker port fell to its lowest level since November 2010 during the month of October, according to Bunker Index price data.
The Rotterdam 380 cSt average declined by $65, or 11.9 percent, to $481 per tonne last month, down from $546 per tonne in September.
The $65 price decrease is the most significant of the year so far and the biggest since June 2012, when Rotterdam's 380 cSt average fell by $74 to $562 per tonne.
In comparison with the corresponding month in 2013, the October 2014 average is $105 lower. It is $134 below the $615 per tonne price recorded in October 2012.
