The Bunker Index (BIX) global monthly average declined by $0.82, or 0.1 percent, to $792.81 per tonne in March, down from $793.63 per tonne the previous month, according to Bunker Index price data.

The March decrease is the least significant price change since June 2013, when the worldwide average fell by just $0.05 to $786.56 per tonne.

This month's price data means that the BIX average has remained within the $780-$800 per tonne range for 12 consecutive months between April 2013 and March 2014.

In comparison with previous years, the March 2014 average was $24.15 lower than the $816.96 per tonne average price recorded in March 2013 and $109.33 lower than the $902.14 per tonne figure seen in March 2012.
