CMA CGM has taken delivery of the fifth vessel in its series of 15,000-teu methanol dual-fuel container ships, built by Jiangnan Shipyard in China. The vessel, designated as hull H2795 and named CMA CGM Berenice, was delivered on 24 June at a naming ceremony attended by representatives from CMA CGM, Jiangnan Shipyard, China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Bureau Veritas (BV), and other parties.

The final ship in the series is scheduled for delivery in September this year. The vessels are based on the 'Kun' series developed and designed by Jiangnan Shipyard. Each vessel measures 366 metres in overall length and uses methanol dual-fuel propulsion.

Yuan Feipeng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the trade union at Jiangnan Shipyard, stated: “The delivery of this vessel stems from CMA CGM’s high standards and stringent quality requirements, the rigorous inspection and oversight by BV, and the strong support and collaborative efforts of all partners. Jiangnan Shipyard will continue to uphold the philosophy of ‘creating value for customers’, continuously refining its construction processes, improving quality and efficiency, and deepening its research and development of green ship types.”

The dock construction cycle for the CMA CGM dual-fuel series has been reduced to 84 days, according to the shipyard, which it describes as a record for this vessel type.
