Service Level Commitment (SLC)

Publishing Times and Dates

Spot port prices: Web

All website spot port prices (e.g. Singapore VLSFO) are updated daily, between Monday and Friday (see 'Public holidays' below for exceptions).

Bunker Index generally collects and publishes spot port prices whilst trading is taking place in each market in order to provide users with up-to-date prices.

The precise timing of updates for a port on any given day will depend on a number of factors, including:

  • The time of day that sources provide price data to Bunker Index for a given port.
  • Key trading times or events during the day (e.g. the afternoon trading 'window' in Singapore).
  • Whether current-day prices in another market have been published (e.g. a supplier in Fujairah may wait until after the Singapore trading 'window' before providing price levels).
  • Price volatility (e.g. if there is a sudden jump or drop in crude, this could lead a supplier to decide to temporarily halt quoting customers until the picture becomes clearer).
  • If it is a port where price levels do not change daily. For these ports, spot port prices could, for example, be published at a time of day when the local market is not open if Bunker Index staff know that price levels on a given day will not change.

Spot port prices: API

'Last' APIs update automatically to show the last spot price published for each port product (e.g. Singapore VLSFO). For example, if the time were 00:05 GMT and the price for Singapore VLSFO had not yet been added for the current day, then the last spot price published for the previous day would be shown.

'Today' APIs update automatically to show the last spot price published for each port product during the current day (GMT) only. For example, if the time were 00:05 GMT and the price for Singapore VLSFO had not yet been added for the current day, then no price for Singapore VLSFO would be shown.

'End of day (EOD)' APIs show the last spot price published for each port product on the previous day. They automatically become available at 00:00:01 GMT of the current day.

Forward port prices: Web & API

Forward port prices (web and API) for a given trade date and delivery date/month are published once a day, between 00:00 and 02:00 GMT the following day.

Monthly, quarterly & yearly spot port averages: Web & API

All monthly spot port averages (web and API) are published between 00:00 and 12:00 GMT on the first day of each month for the previous month.

All quarterly spot port averages (web and API) are published between 00:00 and 12:00 GMT on the first day of each quarter (Jan 1, Apr 1, Jul 1, Oct 1) for the previous quarter.

All yearly spot port averages (web) are published between 00:00 and 12:00 GMT on the first day of each year (Jan 1) for the previous year.
