Appointments announced at Wärtsilä


Management appointments will be effective from 1 January 2012.



Finnish firm Wärtsilä has announced that it has made the following appointments:

Mr. Kari Hietanen, aged 48, currently Group Vice President for Legal Affairs and HR, has been appointed Group Vice President, Corporate Relations and Legal. His responsibilities also include Sustainability & EOHS (Environment, Occupational Health and Safety) and Intellectual Asset Management. Mr. Hietanen has worked for Wärtsilä since 1989 and he has been a member of the Board of Management since 2002.

Ms. Päivi Castrén, aged 53, MSc (Soc.Sc.), has been appointed Group Vice President Human Resources and a member of the Board of Management. Ms. Castrén has worked as Vice President Human Resources for Wärtsilä since 2005.

"With these appointments Wärtsilä aims to further its emphasis on being a preferred employer with first rate global HR practices, and on being recognized for its innovative operations and technologies," Wärtsilä said. The two appointments will be effective from 1 January 2012.
