Bunkers International to sell 1%S 380-cst in Colombia

Supplier says it aims to begin selling 380-cst with 1% maximum sulphur content in Cartagena by July 2010.

Leading Colombian supplier Bunkers International Corp, in collaboration with its joint venture partner, Vanoil S.A., is in the final testing stages of a 380-centistoke (cst) product with 1.00% maximum sulphur content for delivery in the Colombian bunker market.

According to Bunkers International, the new product will have viscosity levels in the range of 300-380 cst, with very low metal contents, and all other parameters well within ISO RMG.380 (2005.)

The target delivery date for the new low sulphur product is July 2010.

“We believe the availability of this product will be of great interest to vessels traveling to Europe from the Caribbean basin”, said John Canal, President of Bunkers International. “Ship owners can obtain the low-sulphur fuel they need to meet emerging regulations and then can do so while receiving the same high-quality service we have become known for. In fact, we also offer a full service and fees inclusive "bunkers-only" call to the Cartagena anchorage that should add to the appeal of this product. We will continue to provide our 1.50% max sulphur 380 cst for customers not requiring the 1.00% product.”

Bunkers International says that all its products are are fully certified by the state run refinery and will meet all ISO designated specifications as noted above.

Since its founding in 2000, the joint venture between Bunkers International and Vanoil has become the largest marine fuel supply operation by volume in Colombia, with a fleet of seven barges, shore side storage, experienced crews, and sophisticated computerized blending systems.

Bunkers International has been expanding operations globally since 2000, creating new operations in Colombia, the UK, Singapore, Turkey, New York, and South Africa.

The company has significantly increased its trading division, helping drive a seven-fold increase in revenue in the past five years. With strong capitalization and supply operations on both coasts of Colombia, Bunkers International says it is well positioned to serve the South American market and beyond.

Customers with inquiries for any ports in Colombia can contact the company’s headquarters in Orlando Florida at +1-407-328-7757 or call any of the global sales offices. Additional contact details for the company can be found on the Bunkers International website at www.bunkersinternational.com.
