BAF increase for cargo to Australia


Shipping firm increases Bunker Adjustment Factor from New Zealand to Australia due to rising bunker prices.

Ship operator Swire Shipping has announced that following a review of current bunker prices, the Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) for all containers, break bulk & timber shipments ex New Zealand to Australia will increase from NZ$530.00/TEU for containers, NZ$22.45/RT for break bulk cargo and NZ$10.45/cbm for timber to:

NZ$560.00/TEU for containers

NZ$24.45/rvt for break bulk cargo

NZ$12.45/rvt for timber

This will be applied to all cargo shipped on the Swire Shipping Trans Tasman Service westbound, effective from Tasman Chief V7235W.

"These charges will be kept under review and will be subject to adjustment, with the new review taking place early December and effective from 1st January 2010," the company said in a statement.
