PMG Holding has commenced the delivery of very-low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) for ships calling at all Ukrainian ports.

According to the Black Sea supplier, "several thousand tonnes" of IMO 2020-compliant VLSFO have already been delivered to bunker-buying customers, and its supply schedule is also "filling up rapidly for the coming days" as the January 1 deadline approaches for the implementation of the global 0.5 percent cap on fuel sulphur content.

Supply chain control, 'consistent source of VLSFO'

PMG was keen to stress that by having full control over the supply chain, the firm has "complete confidence" in the quality, quantity and availability of its VLSFO 0.5 percent fuel going into 2020.

The fuel seller added that it will be providing "a stable, consistent source of VLSFO" to the Ukraine market, which is in addition to its existing offering of high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) and 0.1-percent-sulphur marine gas oil (MGO).

"We are ready for 2020 and are set to meet the growing demand," PMG told Bunker Index.

Delivery barges

Currently, PMG is utilizing a bunker barge with a fuel oil capacity of around 5,000 metric tonnes for deliveries; however, the firm expects more of its fleet to be used to supply VLSFO from 2020 onwards.

All of the company's barges are capable of delivering both fuel oil and MGO simultaneously, which in turn helps reduce the overall time spent on bunkering, PMG pointed out.

Ukraine: benefits

Highlighting the benefits of refuelling in the Ukraine, PMG remarked: "Ukraine has been growing rapidly as a staple bunkering location for many operators due to favourable weather conditions, stable supply and competitive pricing. [Compared] to other ports in the Black Sea, Ukraine is well sheltered from high winds and waves, which allows the region to have relatively favourable conditions in winter, adding to the appeal to taking bunkers in the county."

Established in 2003, PMG specializes in the physical supply of marine fuel in the Black Sea and is an exporter of oil products from the Far East.

The supply operation is being managed by the company's trading team in London. For enquiries, please call +44 207 654 3795 or email bunkers[at]holdingpmg.com.
