Black Sea lube supplier to launch new terminal

Varna facility will enable Bulgarian firm to process larger base oil shipments.

Bulgarian lubricant supplier Prista Oil has announced that it is about to launch a pier depot for the storage, shipping and unloading of base oils in the port of Varna, The Dnevnik Daily reports.

Set to be launched within the next month, the new 7 million euro terminal will be the largest in the Black Sea basin and amongst the top five in Europe.

The new 2.9 hectare facility will improve Prista's logistics capacity as it will enable the company to process larger base oil shipments. The terminal will have one docking berth with the capacity to process 10,000 ton fuel tankers.

Prista Oil already operates a base oil terminal in Odessa, Ukraine. The terminal, which has been operating since 2004, has a total storage capacity of 11,000 cubic metres. The loading rate at the berth is 150 cubic metres per hour and the maximum deadweight is 6,000 tonnes.

Prista also operates blending plants in Rousse, Bulgaria and in Korfez, Izmit in Turkey.

The Rousse facility has the capacity to process 100,000 metric tonnes per year. It is also able to store up to 8,000 tonnes of base oils and additives and 2,000 tonnes of finished lubricants.

The blending plant in Turkey is able to process up to 80,000 metric tonnes per year. It has a storage capacity of 1,000 tonnes for base oils and additives and 1,500 tonnes for finished lubricants.

Prista oil has a product range of over 150 types of lubricants, which also includes marine oils.

The PRISTA® MARINE engine oil range includes PRISTA® MARINE C, PRISTA® MARINE D, PRISTA® MARINE DS, PRISTA® MARINE mS, PRISTA® MARINE S, PRISTA® MARINE ST and PRISTA® MARINE Cm.

PRISTA® MARINE C is system oil, developed for crankcase lubrication of the components and cooling of the pistons of low speed crosshead marine engines. PRISTA® MARINE D, DS, mS, S and ST are intended for the lubrication of main and auxiliary medium speed trunk-piston engines burning distillate fuels with variable sulfur levels.

Meanwhile, PRISTA® MARINE Cm is a cylinder oil, recommended for the centralized forced lubrication of the cylinders and low-speed high output crosshead diesel engines burning heavy residual fuels.
