380 cSt fell the most in Suez, Panama and Houston in 2015


380 cSt prices in the ARA region were also over 50 percent lower in 2015.



380 centistoke (cSt) prices in Suez, Panama Canal and Houston recorded the most significant decreases in 2015 amongst the world's leading marine fuel hubs, according to Bunker Index price data.

In an analysis of the period spanning between December 31, 2014, and December 31, 2015, it was the port of Suez that saw the biggest drop in percentage terms, falling by 57.9 percent from $451.00 per tonne to $190.00 per tonne.

Houston was second with a decline of 54.4 percent, from $299.50 per tonne to $136.50 per tonne. It was closely followed by Panama Canal with a 52.6 percent reduction, from $317.50 per tonne to $150.50 per tonne.

In a comparison of the top 5 bunkering ports (Singapore, Fujairah, Rotterdam, Busan and Antwerp), it was the ARA region that recorded the biggest percentage decrease with price drops of 50.5 percent and 50.1 percent in Antwerp and Rotterdam respectively.

On average, bunker prices fell globally by 45.9 percent in 2015, according to data revealed earlier this week by Bunker Index. Between January and December, the worldwide 380 cSt average decreased by $269.38, from $587.15 per tonne, in a comparison with the prior-year period.
