Third day of sub-$130 quotes in Rotterdam


A summary of weekly Rotterdam 380 centistoke (cSt) prices.



Bunker suppliers at the port of Rotterdam continued to quote 380 centistoke (cSt) product at below $130 per tonne for the third consecutive day on Friday, as the daily assessment price rose by $6.00 compared to Thursday but was lower for the sixth consecutive week between December 31 and January 8, according to Bunker Index price data.

During the first week of 2016, the Rotterdam 380 cSt bunker price dropped $7.50, or 5.5 percent, to $130.00 per tonne, compared with the previous end-of-week price.

It is the first time since Bunker Index began publishing Rotterdam 380 cSt prices in April 2008 that a daily assessment price below $130 per tonne for 380 cSt has been recorded ($124.00 per tonne on Thursday).

Intraday lows of $129.00, $120.00 and $129.00 were also seen on successive days between Wednesday and Friday.

During the week, price increases of $3.50 and $6.00 - seen on Monday and Friday respectively - were outweighed by decreases of $1.50, $8.50 and $7.00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The week's lowest daily assessment price of $124 per tonne - recorded yesterday - was accompanied by an intraday low of $120.00 and a high of $128.00.
