Additional LNG-fuelled ro-pax ferry ordered

Vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2018.

Sweden's oldest passenger shipping company, Rederi AB Gotland, has exercised its option to build another liquefied natural gas (LNG) ro-pax vessel in addition to the vessel originally ordered during the second half of 2014.

The 1,650-passenger vessel is to be built by GSI Shipyard in China and is scheduled for delivery in 2018.

Both vessels are to run on LNG. During the design process, the Swedish operator says that much work has been devoted to creating optimal hull lines in order to obtain the "best possible energy consumption and environmental impact".

The first 199.99-metre-long vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2017.
