Bunker sales hit new record in Singapore

Rise in sales of 380cst and 180cst leads to slight increase in total volume sold in April.

Bunker sales in Singapore hit a new record last month, according to the latest monthly figures published by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Sales in the world's largest bunker port reached 3,047,000 metric tonnes during the month of April, beating the previous month's total by just 1,700 tonnes.

Whilst sales of 380cst and 180cst rose last month compared to March, the MPA reported a decrease in sales for 500cst, MGO and MDO. Sales for MDO and MGO were also down on volumes recorded in April 2007, whilst sales of 500cst in April 2008 were 57,700 higher than the previous year.

In percentage terms, 380cst made up 75 percent of sales in April. 500cst was the second most popular product at 11.7 percent and 180cst sales were 8 percent of the monthly total.

Below is a table of bunker sales in Singapore for 2008 with accumulated totals in the bottom row.
