Alaska Marine Lines reduces fuel surcharge

Fuel surcharge is decreased on shipments to and from Southeast Alaska, Central Alaska and Prince William Sound locations.

Alaska Marine Lines has submitted a filing to the Surface Transportation Board (STB) of the United States to decrease the fuel surcharge from 14.0 percent to 7.0 percent on shipments to, from and within Southeast Alaska.

The transportation firm also intends to reduce the fuel surcharge from 31.0 percent to 29.0 percent on shipments to, from and within Central Alaska and Prince William Sound locations.

The decreases are due to become effective on January 25, 2015.

"We continue to monitor fuel prices on a daily basis and will adjust the fuel surcharge when necessary," the company said in an announcement.

Alaska Marine Lines is a company that provides marine transportation to and from Southeast Alaska, Central Alaska, Prince William Sound and the Yukon Territory of Canada.
